چکیده

In order to understand the immune response of largemouth bass against Micropterus salmoides Rhabdovirus (MSRV), assisting disease resistance breeding, three breeding varieties “Youlu No 3” (U3), 1” (U1) and “Zhelu (P1) were challenged intraperitoneally with MSRV. Serum tissues sampled study changes in non-specific parameters, viral loads, transcript levels immune-related genes, cumulative mortality rate was recorded daily for 14 days. The results showed that rates U1, P1, U3 groups 6.66% ± 2.89%, 3.33% 0, respectively. higher may attribute increased loads after infection liver (2.79 × 105 2.38 vs. 1.3 104 copies/mg), spleen (2.14 9.40 4.21 103 kidney (3.59 8.40 2.42 copies/mg) U1 P1 compared group. serum parameters (lysozyme, catalase, acid phosphatase) found be significantly addition, transcripts interferon-related genes (IFN-γ, IRF3, IRF7) pro-inflammatory-related (TNF-α IL-1β) exhibited up-regulation peaked at 6 h post group, which also but 12–24 groups. conclusion, these findings indicate earlier activation interferon pro-inflammatory is beneficial MSRV infection. This experiment provide an insight into understanding mechanism contributes molecular-assisted selection.

Survival of Foul-Hooked Largemouth Bass(Micropterus salmoides)

We conducted a field experiment to determine the survival rate of foul-hooked (hooked external to the oral cavity) largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) caught and released by recreational anglers. Of 42 largemouth bass caught with hard-plastic baits containing three treble hooks, 15 were hooked only within the mouth and 27 had at least one hook penetrating the external surface of the fish (i...

Cloning, characterization, expression, and feeding response of thyrotropin receptor in largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides).

Thyrotropin receptor (TSHR) is a G-protein-coupled receptor that regulates the synthesis, storage, and secretion of thyroid hormones in the thyroid tissue. The aims of the present study were to characterize the full-length TSHR cDNA in largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides), and to determine the TSHR gene transcription levels in different tissues. In addition, the response of TSHR transcriptio...

Muscle activation and strain during suction feeding in the largemouth bass Micropterus salmoides.

Activation and strain in the sternohyoideus (SH) were measured in vivo in five largemouth bass Micropterus salmoides. The SH is thought to actuate lower jaw depression, hyoid depression and suspensorial abduction during suction feeding in teleost fish. Sonomicrometry was used to measure fascicle shortening and lower jaw kinematics, while activity was measured by electromyography (EMG). SH fasci...

Effect of catch-and-release angling on growth of largemouth bass, Micropterus salmoides

Catch-and-release angling is popular in many parts of the world and plays an increasingly important role in management of recreational fisheries. Although the magnitude of catch-and-release mortality is well documented for many species, potential sublethal effects have been little studied. An experiment was conducted to assess directly the effects of catch-and-release angling on growth of large...
